Oxygen, Life Threatening Bleeds and Vitals Signs

Oxygen

Providing a patient with oxygen can be life saving and in some instances like dive boats, having access to oxygen equipment is mandatory. [In order for staff to provide oxygen treatment they must be competent in HLTAID015 Provide Advanced Resuscitation.]

Custom Oxygen Kits

We can make an oxygen kit according to your specific needs.

Oxygen Regulators

While there are many styles of Oxygen regulators available, our preference is a heavy brass regulator with one therapy nipple and 2 high pressure outlets. These two high pressure outlets allow you the flexibility of running a demand valve from one and a vacuum flask from the other while still being able to run a therapy mask or bag valve mask from the variable flow nipple.

Bag Valve Masks

Three main sizes are available Infant, Junior/Teen and Adult. These bag valve masks attach to the variable flow nipple on the Oxygen regulator and allow the first aid provider to manually ventilate a patient

Vacuum Flask or Suction pod

This Vacuum flask or Vacuum pod attaches to one of the high pressure outlets on the oxygen regulator and provides oxygen powered suction.

oxygen demand valve

The oxygen demand valve attaches to one of the high pressure outlets on the oxygen regulator and provides oxygen on demand.

Guedels for airway management

Guedels are vital to maintaining clear airways we have many sizes to suit

oxygen bodok seals and tools

We can supply oxygen bottle tools and spare Bodok seals

Life Threatening Bleeds

Life threatening bleeding takes precedence over airways and spinal injuries. The law in Queensland (First Aid Code of Practice) now says that all businesses must have adequate equipment to cover life threatening bleeds and amputations. We can supply the following specialised equipment.

Haemostatic Dressing

a haemostatic dressing is a wound dressing that contains an agent that promotes blood clotting. They can be pushed into a life threatening wound to stop the bleeding they are available in x-ray detectable and non x-ray detectable.

Arterial Tourniquet

As used by the US armed forces, this tactical tourniquet is made from robust, reliable alloy components in critical areas and uses the same application method for both arms and legs. • Unlike Velcro, the screw down locking clasp is proven to stay secure even in muddy or sandy conditions. • Alloy windlass not plastic • Long strap to accommodate a variety of sizes • Section for writing application time • One handed operation for self administering if required • Dimensions 37mm x 1160mm

Vital Signs

Taking a patients vital signs is an important part of Providing First Aid. Vital sign information helps emergency services better respond and better understand the patients condition and stability. [In order for staff to provide vital sign monitoring they must be competent in HLTAID014 Provide Advanced First Aid.]

A Finger Tip Pulse Oximeter

A pulse oximeter is a device intended for the non-invasive measurement of arterial blood oxygen saturation and pulse rate. This unit is placed over the patients finger like a loose fitting clothes peg, it will give you a percentage of oxygen in the blood and the Pulse of the Patient. [See our vital signs section of our ‘First Aid treatment form’ for more info]

Semi Auto Blood Pressure Tester

This unit is a semi-automatic blood pressure monitor it eliminates the need for a stethoscope, requires less power and is more compact then an automatic machine because it does not have a compressor. Further it is more tolerant to people with limited testing experience.

blood glucose meter

A blood glucose monitor is a device that allows you to measure the glucose levels within a patients blood. You can do this by pricking their finger with a lancet and putting the blood onto a test strip that is connected to the blood glucose monitor. The blood glucose monitor then gives you a reading.

ACCU-CHEK Safe-T-Pro Plus Lancets

These are a single use blood sugar testing lancet device. These testing lancets are designed to be used once and thrown away eliminating the risk of cross infecting patients

Digital Ear Thermometer

A digital ear thermometer is not intrusive, is easy to use and provides accurate and important information about the condition of your patient. .

Torch for measuring pupil reaction

a Torch can be used to measure pupil reaction to identify head injuries
